Join the Acoustic Revolution

Jeff Babicz & Jeff Carano, joint founders of Babicz Guitars, are certainly no strangers to innovative musical engineering, having worked together with Ned Steinberger back in the day, helping to re-shape the electric guitar and bass world. Now, from their Poughkeepsie HQ in upstate NY, it's therefore not surprising that the pair have continued to innovate, first with the company's range of Full Contact Hardware, and are now conspiring to start a revolution in the realm of acoustic guitars.

Jeff Babicz's concepts represent, not so much a re-design, but a complete re-invention of the way in which acoustic guitars are constructed with a combination of virtuoso engineering and breakthrough technologies that have resulted in a suite of beautifully crafted, superbly voiced and aesthetically striking instruments.

The Babicz Identity Series, exclusive in the UK at the Acoustic Centre, comes in the form of the ID-06e Dreadnought Cutaway and Spider stage acoustics as well as the new Steven Wilson Signature Model, of whom share striking good looks, tonal response, functionality and three unique, Babicz patented technologies...

Continually Adjustable Neck

This feature allows players to adjust the action of the guitar from a low electric feel all the way to high slide and anywhere in-between, without changing the tuning or intonation of the guitar and can be done at any time and at any time - without detuning! This is because, unlike traditional neck adjustment systems, there is no tilting or pivoting. The neck slides in a pocket parallel to the sides of the guitar without altering either scale length or string tension. Quick adjustment is achieved by simply inserting a 3/16" allen wrench into the trap plate on the back of the guitar, turning it in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

Lateral Compression Soundboard

Unlike conventional 6-string guitars, the strings on a Babicz guitar fan out from the split bridge assembly to anchor along the outside edge of the instrument. By securing the strings in this fashion, the overall tension of the strings is spread evenly across the soundboard and not concentrated in the centre, which is the weakest part. This not only encourages the top to vibrate much more freely, it also allows Babicz to use a lighter form of internal bracing other than the rigid X-brace which can impede the vibration of the top and dampen the sound.

Torque Reducing Split Bridge

This allows the player to adjust the intonation of the guitar throughout its life. Loosening the fasteners on the bridge allows it slide to back and forth to adjust the intonation when needed (unlike standard guitars with glued bridges); tightening them ensures that adjustments are firmly securely locked in place.
